Are e-cigarettes less harmful than regular cigarettes?

Yes-According to the British Broadcasting Corporation, the commissioned investigation report of the Public Health Commission of England pointed out that e-cigarettes are safer than traditional cigarettes, and the harm is reduced by 95%. The report also pointed out that e-cigarettes can help smokers quit smoking. Advocate the government to include e-cigarettes in the NHS’s medical security system[1].

Can e-cigarettes help adults quit smoking cigarettes?

  • The latest study published in the New England Journal of Medicine (NEJM) on January 30 said that e-cigarettes are nearly twice as effective as nicotine replacement therapy, including patches, sprays, throat lozenges and chewing gum. 18% of e-cigarette users can quit smoking after one year, but only 9.9% of alternative therapies
  • The New Zealand government officially announced on October 11, 2017: “The New Zealand government believes that e-cigarettes have the potential to assist my country in achieving the goal of the 2025 smoke-free national plan.” As early as 2015, the British government has proven: “E-cigarettes are more harmful than cigarettes. 95% less.”; The British National Health Service (NHS) also recommended that smokers use nicotine patches, nicotine gum, and e-cigarettes to quit smoking during the 28-day cessation campaign in October 2017 [4].
  • The UAE Standardization and Metrology Agency (ESMA) announced on February 16, 2019, that it would lift the sales ban on e-cigarettes. The UAE will become the first market in the Middle East where tobacco harm reduction products are legalized. Dr. Hanan Bald, head of the Dubai Smoke-free Initiative, said that the new standard for e-cigarettes It is a “good measure to protect people who still smoke, and will not ban smoking” [5].
